Cars & Poodle Skirts ~ Hot August Nights In Reno, NV

If you love classic cars…the paint jobs, the roar of the engines, that shiny chrome … then you’ll absolutely be in heaven during one of Reno’s largest festivals. Hot August Nights is in full swing right now throughout downtown Reno.  Almost everywhere you look right now there is a gorgeous vehicle cruising the streets. All that’s missing is a row of neon diners.

This is one of the best festivals every year!  Cars, cars cars!!!  We headed over to the Atlantis Casino Resort & Spa for our first official viewing of these beauties.  Let me just say, I thought that Charming was going to need a bucket to catch all of that drool.  Especially when he saw the beauty above.  Then again, almost all of the cars went on his wish list.  It was almost like walking through a car lover’s dreamland.  Rows of some of the most gorgeous cars I’ve ever seen.  And there’s still tons that I have to go check-out at other casinos before the festival is over.  (Schedule of events is listed below) 

We started off by getting some shaved ice…the vendors line the parking lot just in case there is anything that us spectators get an inkling for something or other.  Charming got one of those inklings right away.  Hey, you only get shaved ice every-so-often.  And by the end of the night both girls had their blue lips from the bubble gum shaved ice. 

 

  

  

  

  

Rose decided that she needed to try on about half of the hats from one vendor…and decided that there wasn’t really one that was “perpect”.  She wanted many more than just one hat…but this one wasn’t on the list of the ones she wanted.  At least she was beyond thrilled to have a beautiful new fan.  (fans are a big thing right now in our house) 

Then we hit a stand with all sorts of whimsical glasses and hats.  You just try to keep a 5 year old & three year old from trying on absolutely everything in sight.  It’s just not possible without bodily injury…so we didn’t even thing of fighting it. 

Charming & I were like two little kids in a candy store.  I litterally had that feeling that you got as a child when looking at all of the toys in the toystore at Christmas time.  It was a little silly…almost embaracing, in fact…like I was drugged and giddy and just couldn’t keep that smile off my face.

Just to be honest, I turned a few shades of green when my little darlings got to take a seat in this one.  Momma would love to have it sitting the driveway…and I made sure to let the owner know it.  He was too kind…insiting that the girls get in the car for a picture.
