This year has been filled with changes…and I’ve learned that unlike Southern California, you can’t expect Spring to come in a timely manner in the Reno/Tahoe area. There have been a barrage of weather systems hitting the area…even up to this past weekend…dumping rain and snow in the mountains and valley floor.

How can anyone plan for planting any gardens or picnics for that matter? I’ve been dying to plant my little herb garden again, but I know that if I don’t wait until May then the chances of freezing nights destroying my herbs runs very high.  And this is extremely frusterating for a So. Cali girl who’s been transplanted in Reno.  Very frusterating indeed.

Now to me, Spring means flowers, gardens, butterflies, sunny afternoon picnics, that “fresh” smell that only Spring can bring…Being born on May 1st gives me an extra love for Spring I think.  Perhaps by my birthday this little miniture rose bush will be in full bloom.

Now, to Charming the emergence of Spring means something completely different.  From what I have gathered, Spring means that the weather is now perfect for trips to the driving range.  And this year he’s making those trips with our little Grace.  Yeah, she’s “learning” to golf.  Daddy-Daughter Dates.  You can check out their first venture to the driving range HERE.  And then there’s always the BBQ…that’s when Charming does his cooking.

There’s the ever present reminder that Old Man Winter is still hanging around…and I must admit that it makes the view out the front door extremely gorgeous.  You can’t get this in Southern California…as much as I hate to admit it.  There’s just too much smog that gets in the way of viewing pleasure.

And then there came signs of promise!  BLOOMS!  Not from any garden that I had prematurely planted, but from the plum tree in the backyard.  Oh joy!  Oh rapture!  Finally, signs of SPRING!  Since the weather has gotten a little more favorable this week, inally hitting the 70’s, I decided to take a few shots of some Spring Time sightings.

There is something so peaceful about trees with their buds blooming.  It’s like a flower on a grander scale for me.

And I just couldn’t resist this picture…a pine tree in the background, just a reminder of Winter that has come and now (hopefully) has gone.

Then there is this beautiful tree down the street from us…I have no idea what type of tree it is.  All I know is that I want about 20 of them in my backyard one day.

It looks like a bunch of bridal bouquets.  And that little bit of pink right along the edges…just perfection.

That same neighbor had this daffodil in their front yard.  My love of Alice In Wonderland came rushing through my mind…I was half expecting it to break out into song.  It was dancing around in the wind though…so the fact that it didn’t start singing was alright with me.

Then there are these little bushes that have tons of vibrant purple blooms all over them.  And I LOVE purple.  It just makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside…don’t ask me why.  I don’t know.

Ah Spring, how I love thee.
I hope Old Man Winter doesn’t try to snuff you out again.
